In 2017, a trend started in big budget, AAA video games like Overwatch, or more extremely, Star Wars Battlefront This was called loot boxes, where players would pay some money in a multiplayer game to get some random items, maybe skins, items, or in rare cases, like in EA’s rather notable game, things that set you above other players. Despite thinking this kind of stuff is totally unfair and has no place in video games, I will discuss how these loot boxes are designed to affect the human mind.
