A recent WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) report by Richard McLaren, uncovered a state-run Doping scheme to enhance the athletes preference. The IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) said that the athletes who could prove they were drug free could compete.

However, the only athlete who was untainted was Darya Klishina. Darya was the only one of 68 track and field team athletes that was not involved with the scandal, because she was training at the time in America(specifically Florida). Darya said to the court of arbitration for sport, “I am a clean athlete and have proved that already many times and beyond any doubt, based in the U.S. for three year now.”

After Darya Klishina was told she could compete various other Russian athletes challenged their bans in court. A total of 268 athletes were cleared to compete.
