The 2018 NFL Draft has finally wrapped up and this was another very exciting Draft. This was GM Ozzie Newsome’s final year as the Raven’s GM because next year he will hand over the position to Eric DeCosta. That means this was Ozzie’s last Draft in charge of the picks. He went out with one of the best drafts ever and he did a great job at setting us up for the future years to come. This overall was a great Draft and I will explain why Ozzie’s final Draft as a GM ill be remembered for a while.

Hayden Hurst, TE South Carolina

The Ravens were origin se to pick at number 16. They had their eyes set on some players at both tight end and receiver. They were able to trade back in he first round to number 22 with the Bills. They were then able to trade back again to number 25 overall with the Titans. This was a perfect move because they were able to acquire some picks and still get the player they wanted in the first place. Hurst is a well rounded tight end that will help the Ravens in the passing game along with the running game. He is a fierce blocker and that is what the Ravens look for in their tight ends. He is also an electrifying playmaker especially in his route running. He also only has three drops in his college career. Flacco also loves to throw to his tight ends that means Hurst will be heavily featured in the offense. Overall this was a great move to add talent at a position of need that will help out the offense as a whole.

Lamar Jackson,QB Louisville

Lamar Jackson is a player that has a ton of potential but still needs to develop as a pocket quarterback. He will be a good quality back up for Flacco and he could eventually take over as the starter. This was a great pickup for the Ravens at the end of the 1st round. Ther future of this league will be with the RPO’s or run pass options and Jackson does that very well.

The first round grade I would give would be an A. They first filled a position of need at tight end and then they got a quarterback for the future that they can develop behind Flacco. This was a great first round and for the Ravens and a great start to a very successful draft.
