The Ravens have been active in Free Agency so far in signing John Brown and Ryan Grant. John Brown has already signed the contract and he will be a Raven next season. Ryan Grant on the other hand failed his physical test and the Ravens were not allowed to sign him. In the NFL rulebook if a Free Agent fails that team’s physical test for any reason that team can NOT sign that player. That was very disappointing because Ryan Grant was an exciting young player that is bound for a breakout season. They still get John Brown who is a very explosive player that will add a spark to this offense. With Grant failing his physical, the Ravens all of a sudden got way more cap money to spend. They still wanted to bring in versatile pass catchers for the offense and when one was available they made the deal done.

Michael Crabtree was released by the Raiders this off season after having a couple of outstanding seasons in Oakland. Crabtree is a veteran player that still plays as he is in his prime. He is a taller possession receiver that had a lot of productivity in Oakland. He isn’t going to get a crazy amount of yards but he  was towards the top of the league in touchdowns. He is very reliable in the red zone and scored mostly off fade routes. Even though he is taller, he runs great routes and is pretty fast. He will also add leadership in the locker room while being a mentor for the younger receivers. He did have some controversial moments last year but he has said that he is putting all of that stuff behind him. The Ravens now have a speed receiver in John Brown, a possession receiver in Michael Crabtree, along with a couple of young players that can prove themselves.

Michael Crabtree has said that playing for the Ravens was his dream growing up and it was good they can be reunited. The Ravens front office did a great job at signing him because of how the rest of Free Agency was going for them. This is a great start for the Ravens receiving core but it is still not done. They are going to add more young players in the draft and could resign Mike Wallace or Michael Campanaro. So far the Ravens are doing a great job at rebuilding the offense and they is still more to come.
