This is the continuation of Season 2 of the Serena Series.

“Who are you?” I asked, standing up. “We are the rebelles d’Azura.” The voice replied. “I’m sorry, but I do not understand French.” I stated.

The man groaned. “I said, we are the rebels of Azura.” “What do you mean…rebels?” I asked, getting scared. The man could sense my fear. He chuckled. “Just like what it sounds like, Serena. We used to all work for Queen Ezra in the royal palace.” He said.

“Then, we got sick of being bossed around by her. We didn’t want to be ruled by some queen who told us what to do all the time. We wanted our own lives, our independence. We wanted to do what we wanted to do. So we all decided to escape the palace.

We escaped at midnight. It was a success. We traveled deep into this forest to hide. We made our own little village, deep underground. And ever since that day, we have been plotting to get rid of the queen. Queen Ezra became too old to rule, and now, her daughter is the current queen of Azura. Queen Athena.”

“Queen E-Ezra? Queen A-Athena?” I stuttered. “That is my grandmother and mother! You! You are planning to kill them?!” “Exactly.” The voice said. “What a good listener you are. We are planning to not only get rid of the current and former queens, we don’t want there to ever be a ruler of Azura ever again.”

There was a moment of silence. Then, it hit me. I felt my blood run ice cold. “No.” I said, starting to back up. My whole body was shaking with fear. “No, y-you w-wouldn’t…” “Oh, we would.” The voice said. “And we will. We have already caught our first prey, haven’t we?

The long lost princess of Azura. Soon to become queen. After we get rid of you, there will be no more future generations of royal blood. Azura will be free once again! And we will be the heroes of it all!”

HEROES?!” I screamed. “You think everyone will be thanking you for it!? Nobody in Azura wants this but you!” The voice laughed. “You’re right. They don’t want this. That is why we will make them.” “And how do you expect to do that? Everyone thinks my mother and grandmother are great rulers.”

“We have been working on a new brainwashing system. And it seems to be going quite well.” “Brainwashing!?” I shrieked. My heart was thundering in my chest. I felt like I was about to pass out. “You! You’re EVIL!”

“Yes, yes. Call it that if you want. I prefer the term heroic.” “This won’t happen! You can’t do this!” The voice groaned once again. “I’m surprised you haven’t fainted yet. You know, you are quite a strong girl. It’s a shame you will have to die.”
“This is not fair! I never asked for ANY of this!” “You were bound to come back to Azura one day or another. You’re just facing your fate sooner!”

“I’m not coming with you! You can’t make me!” “As I said before, we can and we will.”

Just then, I felt a strong cold hand grasp my arm tightly. I glanced up and saw a boy. He was about a year or two older than me. Maybe eighteen or nineteen. It was too dark, so I couldn’t make out how he looked like, but I saw his piercing icy blue eyes staring right at me.

His stare was so fierce, like he was staring into my soul. I screamed and struggled to loosen his grip. It was no use. His hand would not even budge. I was not strong enough to break free. Especially after walking for hours in the forest.

“I’m sorry.” The boy says to me. “Sorry that it had to be this way.” “NO!” I shouted. He put his hand over my mouth, and forced me to walk with him. We walked for about half an hour, with his hand still tightly around my wrist, and my mouth covered.

This is it. I thought. This is the end of my life. After what seemed like forever, he stopped walking. The boy muttered some words in French that I couldn’t understand, and suddenly, below us, there was a deep black hole. “Go.” The boy said.

“No. You can’t tell me what to do!” I said stiffly. “You have to make things so difficult, Serena.” The boy said.

He shoved me. Hard.

I screamed as I felt myself fall to my death.
