Skateboard bearings

Skateboard bearings are essential for every skateboard. You can get bearings in a lot of places such as, Borders, zumiez, and Val Surf. There are different types of bearing sizes. Bearings sizes go from 48mm to 60mm. The most common bearing sizes are in the middle, which are 52mm to 56mm. The reason there is different sizes is because the smaller the bearing the slower it goes and the bigger the bearing the faster it goes. Bearings are also different in sizes because of the acceleration. If the bearings are big the acceleration is slower. But if the bearing is smaller then the acceleration is faster. The most common bearing are in the middle because they’re not too big or too small and they have the right amount of speed and acceleration.

Skateboard decks

Skateboard decks are the main part of a skateboard. All decks are measured by inches. The sizes go from 7.5 inches to 9.0 inches. The most common size is a 8.0 because its not too big and heavy or to small and hard to land on. So that’s why the most common size is 8.0 because it’s in between.

Skateboard wheels

Skateboard wheels come in different kinds of sizes. Skateboard wheels are measured in the same sizes as bearings. Smaller wheels(50-53mm)are for smaller riders that skate street,go to skate parks, stable trick skating and bowls. But the down side to having small wheels is that they are slow. Average wheel sizes (54-59mm)are for beginners and bigger riders skating street, skate parks, bowls, and vert ramps. And the big wheels (60+mm) Specialty is for skating long boards, old-school boards, downhill and dirt boards. The big wheels are also made for speed and rougher surfaces.

Skateboard Trucks

Skateboard trucks are the metal T-shaped pieces that mount onto the underside of the skateboard and keep your skateboard wheels and bearings securely attached to the deck. Skateboard trucks come in different sizes and brands. When you get trucks you need to know what size skateboard deck you have so that then you can know which size trucks to get. Skateboard trucks are measured by width and height. For width your skateboard truck should match your deck in size. Skateboard deck sizes go from 7.5 to 8.5 inches in street skating. When you get your trucks, measure the body of the truck to see if it fits your skateboard deck. For the height of your trucks, it will affect what you can do with the board. If you want more stability for flip tricks,  low skateboard trucks and small wheels is what you should get. For cruising and speed, you need a higher skate trucks with large wheels. If you’re a beginner, stick with a standard medium truck.

Those are the parts to a skateboard and what you should get.
