This is the continuation of the Serena Series.

The night was cold. I felt the cool breeze blowing in my face. Crickets chirped, hidden inside bushes and dirt. I stared at my grandmother, waiting for her to start. Finally, I would know the truth. Finally, I would learn what my real life is…and who I really am. *Boom* *boom* *boom*. I heard my heart thudding in my chest. This was the moment.

“Sarah dear, before I begin I want you to take a deep breath, and understand that I’m not telling you this to overwhelm you. I know that it will take some time for all of it to sink in, but I need you to just relax, and know that everything will be alright.” “Okay, grandmother.” I said. Just start. I thought. I need to get this over with once and for all. I need to know the truth.

“Sarah, you were never the person you thought you were.” My grandmother started. “I assume you realized that already yourself.” I nodded, shaking. “There is a whole other world. One very different than the one we are living in. One that is to be forever hidden from mankind.

This other world is a secret realm. A realm that no normal person should ever know exists. A long, long time ago, this other world was not hidden and kept secret like it is now. The people of this world were free to come to our world whenever they wanted to, and the people of our world were free to explore their world as well.

This was quite a wonderful time. Everyone lived together. In peace, and harmony.

Then, something horrible happened. It put this other world into a very dark period of time called, L’âge du désespoir, or The Age of Despair.

This other world’s entire existence relied on one gem. Aigue-Marine de Vie. The Aquamarine of Life.” “Wait.” I stopped her. “Grandmother, all these words you are saying. Aren’t they all French?” My grandmother smiled. “I’m glad you noticed that. Yes, indeed they are French. That is the language of the people in this other world.

Aigue-Marine de Vie is the source of all life in this other world. Without it, all is lost and the kingdom collapses. One faithful day, Aigue-Marine de Vie caught the attention of a very treacherous man. With his greedy and selfish heart, he stole the gem from the Grotte des Cristaux- the Cave of Crystals.

The Cave of Crystals is a beautiful cave, located in the heart of this other world. It is made up of billions of crystals and gems of all kind. These gems each represent the life of a person or creature living there. These crystals cannot be removed or stolen. Only the most powerful of the people can remove a crystal, therefore, take the life of someone.

The selfish man saw this and wanted all the crystals for himself. The only way you can achieve ultimate power was to posses the Aigue-Marine de Vie. So the man tried and tried over and over and finally took the Aigue-Marine de Vie.”
