The Star Wars Battlefront Two beta is here! In the past few days I’ve played for at least twenty hours and will be reviewing each game mode and other things in the beta. I’ll start with the four trooper classes going from worst to best. This is only a bit of the content the beta has to offer.

SPECIALIST:

The specialist is by far the best class in the game right now, even though it has the least health. Those who played Battlefront 2015 likely know of the infamous EE-4, a name feared by the Battlefront community. This weapon is a killing machine that nobody wanted to return in Battlefront Two. But it has returned. The specialist class has an infiltration ability that temporarily equips you with the dreaded super weapon. It is a temporary ability, so it can’t be that bad. Right? No, that is wrong. For each kill you get with this ability, it refreshes. You could have this on  a long time if you get a steady flow of kills.

The specialist can also be equipped with an A280CFE for their main weapon. You can add a burst mod to this weapon making it a deadly weapon at all ranges. This isn’t too bad considering how fast the weapon overheats. The specialist really isn’t that great if you don’t use the infiltration ability. The other abilities you have are pretty bad. The thermal binoculars are useless and the shock grenade is jut an annoyance. But the specialist is still the best class.

HEAVY:

The heavy class, in my opinion, is very close to the specialist class in strength. It has twice as much health, and really good abilities. The main weapon for the heavy class is a fast rate of fire blaster that can dish out a ton of rounds before overheating.

The best ability to me on this guy is the detonite charge (yes it’s spelled that way). This is a small explosive device that you place wherever you want but have to detonate on your own. I like to set the charge in a doorway or around a corner I just took cover behind. I pop up another ability of the heavy, a personal shield, and wait. When an enemy gets close I shoot at them a little to get their attention before taking cover. I place the charge around a rock I’m hiding behind and wait again. The guy chasing after me turns the corner and BOOM! I set off the charge blowing my enemy to hell.

Another ability the heavy class has is the shield I mentioned earlier. It is pretty much just that. A shield you pop up. The last ability the heavy trooper has is a sentry gun. This a fast firing mini gun that slows you down but is great for holding down a position.  The heavy may not be the best of the best, but it’s by far my favorite class.

ASSAULT:

The assault class is a well-rounded troop that is decent in all aspects. It is good in all areas but not great in any. This really holds the assault class back, but also makes it great. The main weapon of an assault class trooper is a medium-range blaster rifle. This weapon type is best in close and mid range, but terrible at long range.

The assault class also has three abilities. The first is a thermal detonator, your average grenade, really nothing special about it. This weapon performs  best in close quarters and choke points. The second ability is a scan dart. The scan dart is a small device you fire out which reveals the locations of enemies within several-hundred meters. It’s a pretty useful tool in close range.

The final ability is once again very effective in close quarters. This ability is the vanguard ability, a shotgun-like weapon that refreshes after each kill you get with it. It increases your speed and usually takes out people in one to two shots. The assault class has a medium amount of health, and is pretty good and my third favorite class.

OFFICER:

The officer isn’t great for aggressive players like me. It does support team play and is a nice addition to your squad, as long as you’re not playing it. The officer does benefit your team with extra health. The main weapon of the officer is a close range pistol that does very little damage.

The officer has three abilities, all of which are average. The first ability is a health buff known as officer’s presence. It gives all nearby teammates extra health except you. The fact that you don’t even get the benefits of your own ability makes the officer pretty bad.

The next ability is actually pretty good, a flash grenade. It blinds nearby enemies and that’s it. The final ability is pretty good, a small anti-infantry turret that is pretty deadly. I rarely get kills with it but I always get killed by it. The officer is good addition to your team that benefits everyone but yourself. Overall a pretty bad class.

This is only the basics in the Battlefront Two beta. There is so much more to offer in this game, and this is just a small taste. I will write several more articles about each aspect of the game.
