Born on Jaunurary 14 1987, at the age of 30 Luis Alberto Suárez Díaz, commonly known as Luis Suárez, is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a striker for Spanish club FC Barcelona and the Uruguay national team.

About Suarez
Luis Suarez is the star striker of the Uruguayan national soccer team who went on to play for Ajax and Liverpool before he joined the Spanish giants FC Barcelona. He came into prominence for all the wrong reasons including biting Italian defender, Giorgio Chiellini, during a world cup match in 2014. However, he is still considered to be one of the best strikers in the world and has been the European Top Scorer and winner of the ‘Golden Boot’ award twice. His aggressive nature on the field has been attributed to his harsh upbringing, ridden with poverty, and a broken family where his father walked out leaving his mother to bring up seven siblings. His childhood sweetheart, whom he eventually married, has been his saving grace that had a positive bearing on his life and put him back on track. Today he is one of the highest paid footballers in the world with a net worth estimated at over $ 40 million.

Young Suarez
Luis Suarez was the middle one of seven brothers growing up in Salto, almost 500 kilometres north of Montevideo in Uruguay, and when he was seven his family moved to the capital. He did not want to go (so much so that he stayed with his grandmother for a month when everybody left because they were unable to persuade him to join them). But his family had no choice. There was not much work in their city and his father was employed in El Trigal biscuit factory in Montevideo. So it was that when his mother got a cleaning job in Tres Cruces, the central bus terminal of the city, it was clear that the whole family would have to move. Luis did not want to hear about it, but in the end he accepted it. He spent the whole year in Montevideo and as soon as school was out he went to spend the summer in Salto again because he missed it so much. “The change of city, the way of talking – because they talk differently there and of course they make fun of you,” he tells me.

Intro to soccer
At the age of 14, Suarez joined a local club Nocional. He made his first-team debut in May 2005, at the age of 18.  In January 2011, he signed a five and a half year deal with Liverpool. On that time, Suarez was the most expensive (£22.8 million) signing player of Liverpool.

Personal life
He married Sofia Balbi, his childhood sweetheart, in 2009. They have a son named Benjamin and a daughter named Delfina. His older brother Pablo S uarez is also a professional soccer player.
