Back in the day kids would watch movies like The Terminator or Star Wars wishing that the robots could one day be real….well it looks as if the day has come. For a while now scientists have been trying to recreate robots from movies, and create robots to help with the military. The first movie that has a robot close to something scientists have tried creating. In the movie Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character is a robot that looks exactly like a human, but when cut open has a bionic inside. The Terminator has skin, hair, and even blood! Recently, scientists have created a robot with heat sensing ” skin.” The scientists have put a “film” around the AI robot essentially allowing the robot to have 360 degree thermal sensing, and making the robot twice as sensitive as a human.

Recently some scientists have come even closer to creating a brain for AI robots, so the robots can be used as human labor ( in essence learning faster than the average robot.) Engineers at the University of Massachusetts are in the process of making these microprocessors, which would be the brain of the robot, which would mimic the nerve cells passing messages through the body. This invention would change science forever. Professor Jennifer Rupp said in an interview, ” I think there is a race going on. There is a strong driving force, but at the same time it’s very important that there are players like HP, because they want to get to the market, show everyone that this is real.”

In 2015 scientists started making robots that could conceive babies ( which means that technically robots could take over the world if it works.) Researchers in Cambridge and Zurich have been able to program an algorithm that can create the robots “child.” The way it works is blocks are assembled in a structure inside of the arm, then a camera detects how far the blocks have been able to travel. After the robotic arm sees this it then modifies its next “baby” to try and fix the robot from making further mistakes. Some of these robots that have been previously explained will most likely be used for not only replacing human labor, but also like in the Terminator movies for military use.
